What Type of Website Should a Home-Based Travel Agent Have?
You should createa
website that provides relevant information (content) about your specialty
or niche.
Even if you have a so-called "consumer
web site" or "B2C web site", you still need to create
a CONTENT-RICH web site about your specialty or niche. (But
only IF you want to succeed)
Why?
Because when people start to plan a
vacation or trip, they first go online to look for INFORMATION.
Once they've found the
information they were looking for, they move to
the next step: they go online (or offline) to BUY the travel product or
service.
So, by creating a website that provides the information your target
market is looking for, you will be moving through the 'sales process'
at the same pace as your prospects.
This does not mean that your website won't sell travel products and
services. It simply means that BEFORE
you can sell anything to anyone you need to satisfy their need for
relevant information.
In the process of delivering high-quality information, you will be positioning
yourself as an expert in the 'destination' or 'type of
travel' that your prospects are interested in. Therefore, when the time
to purchase that tour, cruise or vacation package arrives ....
..... who do think your prospect will want buy it from?
Some 'jack-of-all-trades' travel agent at the mall..... or YOU, the
expert who evidently understands what she wants?
The choice is obvious.
The
concept I have described above can be sumarized as follows:
You will create e a 'travel website' that
provides great CONTENT
That CONTENT will attract 'traffic'.
It will attractyour target market -
the people that are interested in the 'destination' or 'type of
travel' that you specialize in.
The great information you provide will PREsell your visitors
and will establish you
as a trustworthy expert
Finally, many of thesePREsold
prospects will proceed to book their trip using
YOUR web site's booking engines or to contact you to complete
their reservations (depending on how you have chosen to set up
your services)
Or ...
... you
could take a few
million dollars from your savings, spend them
in national advertising campaigns ...TV ads, radio ads,
magazine ads, newspaper ads ... and (try to) compete directly with Expedia, Travelocity and
other big online travel retailers.
A
great way to understand the process of Content
> Traffic >> Presell >> Monetize
(sell) is to watch the
